The first Carnatic War began in 1746 and would last until 1748. This conflict was caused by the death of the Nawab of Arcot, who was a key ally of the British East India Company. The death of the Nawab led to a power struggle between his two sons, Muhammed Ali and Dost Ali.

The First Carnatic War ended in 1748 when the Treaty of Aix-La Chapelle was signed bringing the Austrian War of Succession to a conclusion. Under the terms of this treaty, Madras was handed back to the English, and the French, in turn, got their territories in North America.

The war ended with the Treaty of Pondicherry, signed in 1754, which recognised Muhammad Ali Khan Walajah as the Nawab of the Carnatic. Charles Godeheu replaced Dupleix, who died in poverty back in France.

The Treaty of Pondicherry was signed in 1754 bringing an end to the Second Carnatic War. It was agreed and signed in the French settlement of Puducherry in French India.

Third Carnatic War: The war ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. As per the Treaty, Chanda nagar and Pondicherry were returned to France but they were barred from fortifying them or having troops in them.
