Pratihars of Bhinmal MCQs | Ancient History of Rajasthan

Pratihars of Bhinmal MCQs | Ancient History of Rajasthan: Pratihars of Bhinmal- the strongest of the Gurjara-Prathira branch was the one at Bhinmal, under king Vyaghramukha. The Gurjar clan, which ruled at Bhinmal, was known as Chapas (this name is a short version of Chapotkrisht, Sanskrit word which means excelled in archery or strong bowmen). As per the records of Heun Tsang, the famous astronomer and mathematician Bramhagupta was in the court of Vyaghramukha.

Ancient History of Rajasthan: The history of human settlement in the West Indian state of Rajasthan dates back to about 5,000 years ago. Around 1400 BC, the Matsya tribe occupied the region.

Chapas was the name of the Gurjara clan that ruled at Bhinmal. Raja Nagabhatt I was the founder of the Bhinmal branch of Pratihara, and in the Battle of Rajasthan, he formed a triple alliance with Jaysimha and Bappa Rawal to defeat Arabs.

After the downfall of Pratiharas, their capital Kannauj was occupied by Gahadwalas (Rathores). Chandra deva, who belonged to Rathore clan of Rajput warriors, defeated Gopala and established the Gahadavala dynasty. After defeating Prathviraj Chauhan in the second Battle of Tarain, Muhammad of Ghur attacked Jay Chand.

In 1194, Battle of Chandwar took place in which Muhammad Ghori defeated Jay Chand. Soon the kingdom of Gahadwalas was destroyed. Rao Siyaji, grandson of Jai Chandra, of Kannauj, came to Marwar during his pilgrimage to Dwarka.
