The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation of Ministry of Jal Shakti has introduced the Unified Registration Portal for GOBARdhan to simplify the process of registering Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) and biogas facilities across the country.

Currently, there are more than 1,163 biogas plants and 426 CBG plants registered on the portal, making them eligible for support through the Market Development Assistance (MDA) scheme offered by the Department of Fertilizers.
The GOBARdhan scheme
The Union Ministry of Jal Shakti is associated with the GOBARdhan scheme. The GOBARdhan, or Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resources Dhan, scheme is a flagship initiative of the Government of India that aims to convert organic waste into wealth. The scheme was launched in 2018 and is being implemented by the Ministry of Jal Shakti through the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
The GOBARdhan scheme has a number of objectives, including:
