- Introduction : Born on September 28, 1907, in Lyallpur, Punjab (now in Pakistan), Bhagat Singh was a great revolutionary and thinker. His family was steeped in patriotism.
- Organization : Naujawan Bharat Sabha (1926) : To organise the youth.
- Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA) : Its objective was to liberate India from British rule.
- Revolutionary Activities : Murder of Saunders (1928) : To avenge the death of Lala Lajpat Rai.
- Bombing the Central Assembly (1929) : This was a symbolic act of protest aimed at awakening the British government.
- Thoughts and Books: He was a socialist and atheist. He believed that revolution meant not just bloodshed but a change in the system. His book ‘Why I am an Atheist’ reflects his views.
- Martyrdom: He was hanged in Lahore Central Jail on March 23, 1931 along with Sukhdev and Rajguru. His slogan was ‘Inquilab Zindabad’. It continues to inspire millions even today.
