Delhi’s just got the country’s first outdoor museum Shaheedi Park, which opened on August 8, 2023. Opened to the public on August 9, the outdoor museum in Delhi is based on a ‘Waste to Art’ theme, depicting how scrap can be turned into wonderful sculptures. The artwork on show here was created by 10 artists and a team of 700 artisans over six months.

They used 250 tonnes of scrap material including electric poles, old pipes, trucks, cars, angle iron, rickshaws and other metals to create the pieces that showcase famous freedom fighters and the freedom struggle. Personalities such as Mahatma Gandhi, Emperor Ashoka, Rani Laxmibai and Chanakya are represented here.
Along with these, the park also features installations, motifs and monuments, all placed throughout the area, to immortalise important events and eras in Indian history. It symbolises unity, diversity and the relentless spirit of the country’s freedom fighters.
