RPSC RAS Prelims 2024-25 Practice Set 2: RPSC RAS exam dates 2024 have been announced by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC). The Commission will conduct the RPSC RAS Prelims Exam 2024 on February 2, 2025. The Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) Exam is being conducted for 733 vacancies of various posts under the Rajasthan Government by RPSC. The selection is based on Prelims, Mains, and Interview.

- There will be 150 questions of multiple choice (Objective Type), carrying equal marks.
- There will be 1/3 negative marking for each wrong answer.

Begun Kisan Aandolan was led by Ram Narayan Chaudhary. The peasants decided to boycott courts and government offices, along with non-payment of lugs and begar (tax and labor work). The government sent the Trench Commission to investigate the demands of the Begun movement.

Lokpal or Lokayukta in India was named in 1963 by the famous jurist Dr. L. M. Singhvi had given it. The word Lokpal is derived from the Sanskrit words loka (people) and pala (protector).
The First Administrative Reforms Commission (1966-70) had recommended two authorities Lokpal and Lokayukta.
Lokayukta was first constituted in the country in the year 1971 in Maharashtra, it is worth mentioning that a bill regarding the appointment of Lokayukta was passed in the state of Odisha in the year 1970 itself, but it was fully implemented in the year 1983.
In Rajasthan, for the first time in 1963, the Administrative Reforms Committee constituted under the chairmanship of Harishchandra Mathur had recommended the establishment of an institution like Lokayukta, which would keep an eye on the working of the executive and investigate complaints and corruption cases.
In the year 1973, the Rajasthan Lokayukta and Up Lokayukta Ordinance was passed, which became effective in Rajasthan from February 3, 1973. It got the assent of His Excellency the President on March 26, 1973 and since then it is effective in the state in the form of an Act.
Lokayukta in Kerala is called a public man.
Justice Murthy ID Dua was the first Lokayukta of Rajasthan.
Note:
Shri KPU Menon was the first and only Deputy Lokayukta of Rajasthan.
Presently the post of Up-Lokayukta has been abolished.

Appointment of Lokayukta:
The Lokayukta in Rajasthan is appointed by the Governor after consultation with the Chief Minister, the Leader of the Opposition and the Chief Justice of the High Court.
A retired Chief Justice of a High Court or a retired Judge of the Supreme Court can be appointed as the Lokayukta.
Tenure of Lokayukta:
The tenure of Lokayukta in Rajasthan was of 5 years.
In March 2018, by amending Section 5 of the Rajasthan Lokayukta and Up-Lokayukta Act, 1973, the tenure of the Lokayukta was increased from five years to eight years.
In July 2019, the Lokpal and Up Lokayukta Act was amended and the tenure of the Lokayukta was brought back from 8 years to 5 years.
Presently, the tenure of Lokayukta in Rajasthan is 5 years or till the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
He is not eligible for reappointment.
Removal process:
In case of misbehavior or incapacity, the Lokayukta can be removed by the Governor.
The salary of the Lokayukta is equal to that of the Chief Justice of the High Court.

Bishnoi sect:
Sri Guru Jambheshwar was the founder of the Bishnoi sect.
He is also known as Jambhoji. He was born in 1451 in Pipasar village of Nagaur, Rajasthan. He founded the Bishnoi sect in 1485.
There are 29 rules of Bishnoi sect. The Bishnoi sect focuses on environmental protection and wildlife. Under the leadership of Amrita Devi Bishnoi, 363 Bishnois died to save the Khejdi tree.
Dadu Dayal was a spiritual person. He was from Gujarat but moved to Naraina near Jaipur, Rajasthan, where he gathered a group of followers, forming a sect that came to be known as the Dadupanth. Dadupanthi is one of the 7 martial akhadas of the Vaishnava sect of Hindus. Dadupanth belongs to Sant Dharma, which favors the internal worship of a monastic phantasma over orthodox Varnashrama Hinduism with its rituals.
The literature of Dadu cult is included in Dundhari language.
Ramsnehi Sect-
The Ramsnehi sect was founded by Saint Ramcharan. The main center of this sect was Shahpura (Bhilwara).
Other centers of Ramsnehi sect –
• Ren, Merta (Nagaur) – This center was established by Saint Daryav.
• Sinthal – Bikaner – This center was established by Saint Hariram Das.
• Khedapa – Jodhpur – This center was established by Saint Ramdas.

He was born on 30 January 1925 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He was an Indian biologist and conservationist. He was the director of the Delhi Zoological Park and chief wildlife warden of Rajasthan. In 1971, Sankhla conducted a survey of the tiger population in India. He was the first director of Project Tiger, a conservation program established in India in 1973. He was also known as “The Tiger Man of India”. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1992 and the Rajasthan Ratan in 2013.
The Ministry of Environment and Forests instituted the Kailash Sankhla Fellowship Award for conservation efforts in his honour.
